The Situation
The world’s largest shopping center, in a first-of-its-kind partnership launched its loyalty program, wherein shoppers will be able to earn Miles when they make a purchase at any store, dining outlet or leisure attraction.
The idea was to elevate a buyer’s shopping experience with the gift of travel.
To earn Miles, members of the rewards program can scan any receipt worth $28 and above for purchases made at The the Mall on the App.
What Data Semantics Implemented?
Data Semantics team completed one of the largest OCR implementations in the region using Microsoft Cognitive Services (Azure Form Recognizer).
The team has trained around 1200 unique receipt templates (unique documents) and has achieved an overall accuracy of 90% with extractions around key fields such as Store Name, Invoice/ Receipt Number, Invoice Date and Time, Amount and Fraud Checks like duplicate receipts.
The Mall App, which currently uses this OCR solution, is processing around 5000 receipts (Images and PDFs) every single day.
