ETL Test Lead

About the Role 

We are seeking a highly skilled to oversee and guide end-to-end testing of ETL and Data Warehouse (DWH) systems across multiple projects. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in data testing, validation, and automation, combined with strong leadership and stakeholder management skills. 

You’ll lead a team of testers to ensure the integrity, accuracy, and completeness of enterprise data 

across complex transformation and migration pipelines. 

Key Responsibilities 

• Lead and manage the ETL / DWH QA team throughout the test lifecycle — planning, execution, reporting, and sign-off. 
• Design and implement test strategies, test plans, and data validation frameworks for ETL and DWH applications. 
• Perform and guide data validation, reconciliation, and transformation testing across multiple sources and targets. 
• Review and validate ETL mappings, workflows, and data models to ensure adherence to business requirements. 
• Write and review complex SQL / PL-SQL / Spark SQL queries for data validation and root-cause analysis. 
• Collaborate with data engineers, developers, and business analysts to resolve defects and data discrepancies. 
• Oversee test automation initiatives using Python, PySpark, Databricks, or other frameworks. 
• Ensure comprehensive defect management and reporting using JIRA or similar tools. 
• Conduct peer reviews, mentor junior QA members, and ensure continuous process improvements. 

Required Technical Skills 

• Strong hands-on experience in ETL Testing / Data Warehouse Testing. 

• Expertise in SQL, PL/SQL, Spark SQL, HiveQL — strong query-writing and debugging skills. 

• Experience with ETL tools: Informatica, Talend, Databricks, or similar. 

• Hands-on with databases: Oracle, Snowflake, MySQL, PostgreSQL. 

• Familiarity with Big Data platforms (Databricks, Delta Lake, AWS S3). 

• Good understanding of data transformation logic, mapping documents, and business rules. 

• Experience with test management and defect tracking tools (JIRA, ALM, Zephyr). 

• Working knowledge of UNIX/Linux for job monitoring and log analysis. 

• (Preferred) Exposure to BI report validation (Power BI, SAP BO). 

Leadership & Process Skills 

• Experience in leading QA teams (3–8 members) in an Agile environment. 

• Ability to define QA strategy, estimate effort, and ensure timely deliverables. 

• Strong stakeholder management — coordinate with development, business, and DevOps teams. 

• Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities under tight deadlines. 

Educational Qualification 

Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Computer Science, or related field (BE / B.Tech / MCA).
